WINE

Wine
6" x 9" Mixed Media Drawing on Distressed, Dictionary Page

I think this may be the last new drawing for this weekend's art show in Colorado.  I was planning to complete a few larger pieces on old parchment but time is running out.  Doing an art show is so much more than just drawing and creating works of art.  It is also about creating promotional materials like business and show cards, getting a tent and display panels packed which includes all the hanging and price tags supplies.  Then there is the chore of matting and framing work which comes with all sorts of extras.  I think I'd best finish up in the studio and start working on the business of doing a show in a few days.

This piece was great fun to do.  I've been thinking about it for a long time.  I knew I wanted to include a richly colored glass of red wine, a cork and a colorful bottle.  I also knew I wanted to add the wine stains similar to my tea and coffee drawings.

Our recent trip to California included a wine tasting trip to Temecula.  It was a glorious day lead by my nephew who is quite the celebrity chef in Los Angeles.  We visited five different vineyards and actually packed a few bottles to bring back on the plane.
The hills around Temecula, California are covered with vineyards and wineries all featuring tasting rooms and wonderful restaurants.

Each tasting room had it's own personality which in turn, matched the personalities of the wines they sold.  It was a wonderful, relaxing day of eating awesome food and sampling fabulous wines.

I just discovered you by way of pinterest. I really love your paintings on vintage dictionary pages-so vibrant. It was really good to read your about you page and find that even as an established professional artist and teacher you didn't always have a definitive/signature style. I started an art blig about 3 years ago and although I initially mainly did pointillism and stippling, my work has evolved a lot over that time as I tried new mediums and techiques so I'm not sure I have a signature style as such. The only constant is the subject matter for me which is always animals/nature. I hope you have a fantastic time at the colorado art show and I'll look forward to following your blog.
