They are here!  A whole collection of vintage looking drawings of dinosaurs on a fabulous, dictionary page with the definition and a great little illustration.

I had so much fun researching and drawing these fellas( maybe some are ladies - not sure).  My youngest grandson's whole room is dinosaurs so I was inspired to create a Dino page.

Since I didn't have personal references to use for this drawing, I used a lot of children's toys to get my characters.  I knew I wanted to create the same neutral color palette I typically use in my dictionary drawings so it would have a nostalgic feel.

As always, the challenge is the layout and composition of the images around the definition and keeping the images simple.  With all the text already on the page, I can't go too far with my ink drawing or the images get too complicated to easily see.  I also love to have the text on the page show through the images.  It's fun to just explore the text on the page.  I always learn something with these old book pages.  In this case, did you know that dino means terrifying or frightening.  Well, now you do!
